Pet of the Week
Each week this page will be used to spotlight very special animals at the shelter. To adopt or inquire about these animals or any of the other wonderful animals at the shelter, please contact the Metro Animal Shelter, located at 3140 35th Street. Their phone number is (205) 752-9101. The shelter is open 10:00 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. weekdays and 8:00 am - 11:30 am on Saturday.
February 1, 2012 Molly We'd like you to meet Molly, an energetic, spayed, Hound/Shepherd mix who needs an owner that will treat her to plenty of activities. When the 2-year-old dog arrived here at Metro in November, there was reason to believe she may have been someone's lost pet. No one ever claimed her, but that didn't bring this spry girl down. Regular walks and routine playtime is a must for this "very active" girl, but once she's gotten all her wiggles out, she's happy to sit quietly with someone she trusts. She is content being by the handler's side. Molly can also be vocal at time if she is not getting adequate attention. This lively dog would be best in a home without male canines or very young children. She does get along very well with children over the age of 10. She is just so energetic and jumpy so we would not recommend her with toddler-aged children. Molly walks well on a leash and is eager to learn. She's also super curious about cats. If they run from her, she will chase them. Her adoption fee is $50. Adopting of Molly will include a microchip, vaccines, small bag of food, rabies certificate, pet insurance, and a vet visit.
