Libby Listens is a program of Tuscaloosa Metro Animal Shelter headed by Mary Calhoun. This program sees former shelter alumnus Libby visit Tuscaloosa area schools where she will listen to children read to her. Libby Listens has two primary purposes. It encourages children to read by providing a fun and relaxed atmosphere for them. It also allows for the discussion of pet responsibility and how to be a humane community.
If you are a teacher and would like to have libby visit your classroom you can contract program coordinator Mary Calhoun by via email at firstname.lastname@example.org
Last year Libby visited with 470 classrooms and 10,453 people. This growing program wouldn’t be possible without the amazing sponsors which you can find listed below!
